Deal allows Filipinos to work in Spain. You find Filipinos in Spain everywhere. Maybe the next few years they'll also have a Barrio Filipino.
Half Champions
Darwin and I are the winners of the half by a narrow 4 point margin. We only have to wait out the results in the second half to see who we play for the championship. I think, if I played consistent for the second half, we might have a chance for a sweep.
No Storms?

We managed to play our golf league tonight eventhough the Weather Channel was predicting thunderstorms. I efficiently played tonight preserving my handicap and getting points. I am certain we won but whether or not we retained the lead is a different question.
The upcoming 4 day weekend is really bumming me out. I am all alone in Kalamazoo and now I have to survive a 4 day weekend sitting at home doing nothing? I talked to Darwin and we'll probably play a round on Monday at Thornapple. I guess, I can continue preparing the house for guests *wink* *wink*.

At minute forty the feed from the online TV that I was using died. I was not able to watch the rest of the game. I don't want to watch it on the TiVo either.

Played 9 at Eastern Hills today with Travis. Hitting my 3 iron on the sweet spot consistently was a major plus and delight. However, the inconsistent drives were a nuisance. I went to the range Friday and hit the driver straight and long but it disappeared today.
The rest of my day was shampooing the living room carpet, watching the World Cup, and The Ultimate Finale (Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale).

Went to Grand Rapids with Chris, Chin, Sydney and Travis to get things from Golf Galaxy. I had my putter fitted to me which really comprised of the guy bending it 1 degree. I also got new golf shoes and a head cover for my putter because I lost mine in the course last year.
I talked to Nohemi early today and heard that her grandpa is back home and okay from the fall. He just can't move his arm around for a while. But the one who isn't okay is Esther because Blacky bit her in the hand.
I would really want to play a round tomorrow.

Nohemi called me today to tell me that Abuelo broke his shoulder and a rib because he slipped on his way from church. He's in the hospital right now waiting for the swelling to go down so that they can put him on a cast. I hope he's okay.
The weather is shitty but seems like the rain will hold off long enough for Travis and I to get our swim in. We didn't get our golf in yesterday so this a nice consolation price.

Spain 3 - Tunisia 1

I need to watch the TiVoed game because I only saw the last 30 minutes of the game. I forgot to set it to record at best quality so probably can't export this out to record.
Update:
Finished watching the TiVoed match. I am glad that their hard work was rewarded. They defended well, attacked well and eventually the 11 man defense Tunisia team broke. I don't like defensive teams because they do nothing but destroy plays. It's a good thing that their style of soccer didn't get rewarded today.

No stream of the World Cup anymore. I guess, I'll have to leave a little early on Monday to watch the Spain game.
Travis and swam 20 laps on the outdoor pool which is something in the neighborhood of 1150 yards ± 50 yards. I was absolutely drained last night and tool a little nap before having dinner. It didn't seem like much when we were swimming but I heard from Travis today that his shoulder hurt from the 20 laps. Maybe we'll tone it down to 17 or 18 next week.
Going to Saginaw this weekend for the Greek Festival. I am going to bring Adrian to Saginaw for the weekend so the ride there should be fun. I have to find a toy for him to play with in the car or something for entertainment. I have to put up with the spotty T-Mobile coverage in the Saginaw area. I can't wait until I switch my work phone to Cingular. Hopefully, as a company, Cingular is a bit more proactive & supportive of their customers than T-Mobile and/or Sprint Together with Nextel.
I almost forgot. I went to Secant yesterday with Chris and Travis. They had a MacIntel iMac running Windows XP. I asked if I could reboot the computer to see how Boot Camp worked. I did reboot the Mac to see the Blue Screen of Death flash before my eyes. It was great! It was definitely worth a mention.

I was happy today. It all spill off of the excellent result of the Spain match. I shot a 47 tonight but made lots of little mistakes and could have done a lot better. I got my first birdie of the year on hole 12 because I had an awesome chip shot that landed the ball 4 feet from the hole. I need to learn to effectively recover from bad shots.
The Pain
12 June 2006 at 9:47 PM
Both my legs ache. It's from golf this weekend and rollerblading today. Did the 7 miles and headed home. Travis and Lindsay went for another run after me. So back to my achy legs... Nohemi refuses to feel my pain so I have to grit my teeth and suffer alone. She's mean.
We found a stream of the World Cup matches online and can watch games from work. How awesome is that? I was thinking of coming in late to work Wednesday morning to watch Spain play but now I can come in on time and pay a bit of attention to the match.

Forty Five Fucking Holes for $29!
10 June 2006 at 11:55 PM
I am back from a fun-filled day of golfing. John, Darwin and I played 18 holes at Crooked Creek Golf Course this morning then 27 holes at Saw Mill Golf Course. Saw Mill had an all-you-can-play special after 2 o'clock in the afternoon. So we played our 18 holes then played 9 more to get our green fees worth. Saw Mill was only for $29 while Crooked Creek had the nerve to charge $51 for 18 with cart. Saw Mill is a far better course which is why we felt ripped off. Darwin and I actually played for free at Crooked Creek because he had a coupon.
I played very well. The best that I have played ever. I shot a 95 at Crooked Creek and a 90 at Saw Mill. Darwin played awesome too. John had the shanks which sucked. The only consolation is that he got his game back by the 45th hole. I can't wait to play more golf.

Yesterday was league. I played pretty well but the score was still bad. I shot a 50 but my quality of play should have netted me a lower score. Oh well, I got 13 out of 18 points so I must have sandbagged right. We are currently on the top spot, now the fight to stay up there begins.
Swam my guts out again tonight. The cooler temps made the half mile not seem too difficult. I had juice for more but Travis was starting to get a charlie horse.
This weekend, I am heading to Saginaw with Darwin for a Saturday golf day. We are planning to play 36 holes then head home Saturday night. Darwin is trying to weasel his way out of driving. He can walk home I guess if he doesn't want to drive.
Talked to Sanjay today. He's going to have another wedding ceremony in the states on the 23rd of December. He got married in India last December 23.
Time for bed.

Rollerblade Monday
05 June 2006 at 8:09 PM
Julie Bradfield, Lindsay and I rollerbladed tonight at a much faster pace than I am used to. Maybe in a few weeks I can get used to the pace. My legs are shot.
Allergies
I haven't stopped sneezing all day nor has my nose stopped from dripping. I finally caved in and got some Claritin hoping that it'll get rid of my allergies. It all started when I went to D&W for some groceries and hasn't stopped since. By 8 o'clock at night, I couldn't take it anymore and went to Target for the Claritin and other things. Mostly chocolate. I was jonesing for sweets. I got the non-drowsy version of Claritin but the placebo effect is making me drowsy:)
The Very Thought of You
I just finished watching the video but the whole thing was very familiar like I have already seen it before. I think, I Netflix-ed it because I saw it as a new release at Hollywood Video. I am not sure why it turned up in my queue but I liked it. I might have seen it in Spain but I am not sure. Hmm, must ask Nohemi tomorrow.

I just heard that the only Popeye's Chicken in Kalamazoo is closed. I used to make special trips there when I jones for the red beans and rice they had with spicy chicken. The cajun fries were yummy too.
TGIF
No plans for the weekend yet. I was hoping to play golf at Heritage Glen but I need to call Darwin first. Next weekend is already planned out. I am planning for a trip to Saginaw because the Greek Festival is next weekend. I've heard a lot of hype over the years about this festival thing but have never been. Mike will be going with me to Saginaw and initially so was Darwin. Instead, he's spending next weekend in Indianapolis.
Last night, we swam the half mile in the outdoor pool. The playing around diving afterwards was fun. Too bad I don't have anybody to video my swimming and diving. I would like to see my form and make tweaks.
The migration to the basement didn't really happen last weekend. George stayed for the weekend so I couldn't pick moving over hanging out. This weekend should be quiet enough to move. And probably add a bit of gardening too. I got a planter from my mom that is still empty. I was thinking herbs at first but Lowes, Home Depot & Menards barely have any for sale. Might try Wenke again this weekend. I tried a couple of weeks ago but they were closed. I was also thinking about tomatoes instead of herbs for the planter but we'll see what happens.
I have not been updating that well over the last week. I forgot to add the Saturday afternoon planting party at Darwin's house. He made kalbi which was yummy.
I also have been playing like crap (not on purpose) in the league. I shot a 60 last week and a 57 this week. Ones mindset makes a huge difference when playing golf. I must adjust mine to get off of handicap building mode.
