31 August 2007 at 8:22 PM
We went to San Agustin for the day. After, we went to Neus' birthday party. Happy Birthday Neus!
Day Sixteen
30 August 2007 at 5:58 PM
We went to help Katti pick out a dress for the baptism. Esther is sick. Nohemi and I got her clothes in the afternoon. Pretty much tiday was a shopping day.
Day Fifteen
We were supposed to go to Es Trenc today but plans fell apart. I am still hoping to get to go to Es Trenc, this trip, but it is looking very unlikely.

Day Thirteen
28 August 2007 at 4:08 PM

Today was spent at Oríent. We tried this excursion last Christmas but the road was blocked and we weren't able to find the alternate route to the town. This time we were lucky and had no problems getting there. I liked how my pictures turned out.
After Oríent, we went to Festival Park for some shopping. I got to pairs of Camper shoes. I wasn't able to get the twins that I wanted because they didn't have any that fit me. We had lunch at a Mexican restaurant. After shopping, we picked up Juan from his wind surfing lesson at the nautical club at Arenal. After that we just hung around Esther's place. Marc and Neus came to visit us. Marc is big now (4 years old) and understands Spanish, Mallorcan and English. I had more gulas and now we're supposed to watch the Germany-Spain basketball game that they´re playing is Palma Arena. Nohemi wanted to try to go but the tickets were sold out fast.
Day Twelve
27 August 2007 at 6:38 AM
We're waiting for Margarita to call so we can pick Anahi up from the hospital. I am not sure what the plans are for the day is but I am chilling.
Day Eleven: Bye Desirée
26 August 2007 at 4:01 PM
We went to San Agustin today to go to the beach and after lunch to the pool for some sun. We just dropped Desirée to the airport. Now we are ordering some food from Il Divo.
Real Mallorca won 0-3. Barcelona drew 0-0.

Survey
In the news, said that 87% of Spanish were happy with their bodies. As in, not wanting cosmetic surgery. I wonder how the rest of the world's population think?
Day Ten: Summer Returns
25 August 2007 at 5:13 AM
The past few days weren't really summer days in Mallorca. Today, it looks like it has come back and we'll have the normal 90 degree days. We didn't make any plans because our plans were all ruined by the rain the past few days. I guess our plan to psych out Mother Nature worked.
Update:
We had lunch at an Italian restaurant in San Agustin. The view was awesome. In the afternoon, we took a walk around the old part of the city with Neus. After, we stopped at Ca'n Joan de s'Aigo for ice cream and ensaimada. Ca'n Joan de s'Aigo was established in the 1700. Yup that's over 300 years of ice cream and ensaimada. The owner, Joan, is a friend of Nohemi's family. He said that back in the old days, prior to refrigeration, there were people that used to take snow from Puig Mayor to make the ice cream.

Day Nine: More Rain
24 August 2007 at 11:10 AM
We couldn't do much today because of the rain. We visited Anahi in the hospital in the morning. Met up with Neus and headed to Bellver Castle. Had something to drink at Portixol and watched the sunset. After, Katti joined us for dinner and a sleep over.
Day Eight
23 August 2007 at 3:41 PM
Today was spent at the northern part of the island. We went to Alcudia then towards the Mal Pas. We had lunch at a restaurant on top of a mountain with an awesome view. Then we spent an hour or so in the beach at Alcanada. We picked up Juan after his soccer practice and now we are chilling waiting for the Korma that I made to finish.
Week One
22 August 2007 at 6:50 PM

Today was another slow day on account of the weather. It rained a lot last night and early this morning. We went to Leroy Merlin for a desk lamp and something else and then to Toys R Us in the morning. We had lunch, Russian salad, at Nohemi´s mom´s house. In the afternoon we visited La Seu and Palau de lÁlmudaina. In the evening, Esther went to work. Desirée, Nohemi and I had something to drink at Longaraone near Clinica Roget. Neus joined us after when she spotted us while driving by.
At night, we watched the Greece-Spain soccer match. Apparently, the Greeks can´t afford to hire a gardener to maintain the pitch. That was a terrible looking soccer field for an international game. Spain won in the last second, literally. It was 3-2 in the end.
Day Six: Valldemosa
In the morning, we went to Sant Elm and a spot in town called Punta Blanca. Took pictures of the Island of Dragonera. Mostly went to the town to take pictures. No beach action yet because it rained the previous night and the water is picada. After Sant Elm, we went to Santa Ponça which is the landing spot of the king to retake the island from the Moors. It was super windy that my gel-ed down hair was sticking up.
Lunch, was delivered Chinese food. The Peking duck was yummy. The Chinese food here has nothing to do with Chinese food in the U.S. both in presentation and taste. Possibly from a different province of China. After all there´s like a gazillion Chinese around the planet so there has to be variety and thank goodness for it. I had issues with downloading my pictures from the camera and lost the directory structure information and couldn´t grab the pictures. I had to download some file recovery application that was able to recover everything from the CF card. Including the section of the CF card containing pictures from Madrid last Christmas.
The afternoon excursion was to Valldemosa and the north coast and one of the old palaces of the archduke of Austria. Valldemosa is famous as the place where Chopin and his lover George Sands(her pen name, can´t remember her real name) spent A Winter in Mallorca. George Sands and her book about the stay in Mallorca (not a rave review) made her and her book the first tourist/travel guide to the island. From Valldemosa we drove on the northern coast to a palace of the archduke of Austria that had been turned into a museum.
Evening, Angel came and had dinner with us. We ordered from a place called Il Divo for delivery but had to pick up the food instead.

Day Five: Yeah, No!
21 August 2007 at 5:03 AM
I had complained about the weather yesterday expecting that the forecast was accurate. Apparently, Mallorca´s weather is pretty hard to predict. Yesterday there was a 20% chance of rain and I few a total of 5 droplets of rain. Today there was a 60% chance of rain and it´s absolutely sunny outside but it did rain a little bit early this morning. So I take back the weather complaints that I made and just take it one cloud at a time.
Today, we are planing to go on an excursion towards the Andratx area.

They Lost
19 August 2007 at 5:52 PM
3-4 is the final score.
Update: Make that 3-5.
Update 2: But I enjoyed watching the game. It was the first game I´ve watched that Schuster was coaching. I am glad Capello is no longer coaching Madrid because I would have probably suffered throughout the game even if they won.

Day Three
Spent the day relaxing at San Agustin. I jumped in the pool for some laps then played poker the rest of the afternoon. I also helped transplant a few of Abuelo´s plants with Nohemi. Now we´re waiting for the Madrid-Sevilla game and trying to decide what´s for dinner.
Day One
18 August 2007 at 1:39 PM
Left Kalamazoo at 11:30 AM(GMT-5). Drove to O´Hare and returned rental car by 3:15PM(GMT-5). Waited around the airport, flight left on time, around 5:45PM(GMT-5). Had a pleasant enough neighbor on the flight from Chicago to Madrid. Her name was Ashley. She was from L.A. and was heading to Ibiza to join her best friend´s family. Arrive at Madrid 35 minitues earlier than scheduled which was a bonus because my flight to Palma was scheduled at 8:50 AM(GMT+1) and I was scheduled to arrive 7:45AM(GMT+1) but getting there at 7:10AM(GMT+1) gave me a bit of breathing room. I remember a few summers ago when I arrived to Madrid late that wasn´t pleasant at all. Left on time for Palma, arrived on time at Palma. My neighbor, an African woman, stole my window seat and I didn´t want to talk or ask for it back so I settled for the aisle. Esther and Nohemi picked me up at the airport. Esther drove, she just got her driver´s license. I took a shower at Esther´s to help me wake up then drove to pick up Esther´s coffee table with her (I was parked at a bus stop and a cop told me to move but I just looked at him blankly and waited for Esther to show up). After that was lunch then a much needed siesta for me from 3:00PM to 5:30PM. Shopping afterwards C&A, H&M, el corte inglés, and a shoe shop for sandals and flip flops from Guru. After that we headed to Bon Aire for something to drink. Dinner was kebabs. A very long day.
Day Two
Got up at 10AM. Showered then picked up Esther from work. We went to Leroy Merlin (Lowes like store) to get shades, screws, etc. We had lunch at Margarita´s and Mario´s place. Anahi my goddaughter has grown a lot from last Christmas. After lunch, we went back to Esther´s place and mounted the window shades and a couple of shelves etc. Had dinner with Neus at a Japanese restaurant called Sakura. We had a boat of sushi, sashimi & maki. I had kalbi for my main dish. Now we´re at home chilling.
Vacation blogging
13 August 2007 at 2:12 PM
I am going on vacation and will be using my BlackBerry to post here
occasionally. But mostly I will probably be posting in my Twitter
account. Twitter is for fast, short and sweet posts.

I can't seem to post in this thing. Not sure why. I dropped Nohemi off at O'Hare today. Now, I don't know what to do. I guess, I'll watch the DVDs I got from Netflix today.
Tomorrow
07 August 2007 at 10:25 PM
Nohemi leaves for Spain tomorrow. I am excited for the upcoming vacation. No internet at the apartment in San Agustin so I've installed a Twitter app for my BlackBerry. I am curious how much I will actually post on Twitter this summer vacation?
F1 Qualifying Hungary
04 August 2007 at 11:33 AM
Long faces in MacLaren for a MacLaren one-two pole position in Hungary. I can't wait to see what kind of bullshit will happen to Alonso's car tomorrow during the race. I wouldn't put it past the English to drop a wrench in his engine.
Update:
Why wait until tomorrow. The FIA penalized Alonso 5 grid places. Even though, MacLaren issued a statement that Hamilton disobeyed the team 6 times which led to the delay in the pits. Seriously, the F1 and the FIA looks more and more like an English puppet.
