The Weekend

Sears Tower from 12th Street Beach

We went to Chicago's Shedd Aquarium this weekend with Travis. We left Kalamazoo around 10 o'clock and arrived in Chicago in time for lunch. We had Chicago-style hot dogs from Portillos. After the aquarium, we took pictures of the skyline from the planetarium. Next was Millennium Park but parking was hard so that was scratched off the list. Instead, we went to Cafe Iberico to get some chorizos, olives & lomo. Hit the Apple store to pacify my Apple fix. Headed back to Cafe Iberico for dinner.

Sunday, relaxed all day. Bought my electric tea kettle for work. Now I can have my poleo-menta with boiling hot water.

Re: Tom's Rant

Since WordPress spambots suck balls, I was not able to leave this at Tom's comment section. It's about the Beaners story that he was talking about. Personally, I am thinking of opening a physical therapy equipment store called Knee Gears.

Sunday Drive

16 September 2007 at 5:49 PM

Nohemi and I went to Grand Rapids to buy groceries at the Filipino store on 44th St. The original plan was just a quick stop at the ice cream place at Plainwell. Problem was that when we arrived at the ice cream place we realized that we didn't have cash. Instead of driving to the bank and back, we changed plans and headed north. We bought halo-halo ice cream, tocino, tapa and chorizo plus other things. I realized how poor my Tagalog is when I couldn't think of saying nakabili na ako niyan noon but I speak Hiligaynon so too bad for the 'alogs.

Preempt The Whine

Belgian GP just finished. I predict that Hamilton will complain to the English press how he was pushed to the run off area in the first lap by Alonso. They will however forget that Hamilton did something similar last week in Monza to Massa which in my opinion caused the suspension failure later in the race.

Colin Mc Rae Helicopter Crash

Nohemi just told me that they heard that Colin Mc Rae was involved in a helicopter crash with his sons and that they are expecting the worse.

Busy Yesterday

09 September 2007 at 8:42 AM

Yesterday, Gus and Mary got married. The annual golf outing for work too. We flew in from Spain. And I am sure a myriad of other more important things.

Addendum to yesterday's drive. After an hour of 75-80mph driving with the top down, we decided to jump into Red Arrow Highway and take the slower route home. However, we took a wring turn somewhere and ended up in South Haven. From South Haven, we drove back on M43. Normally, it would have been an anxious, irritable drive back from the additional hour of driving but the fun-ness of a convertible made all the worries go away. One back thing, you smell everything with the top down but the stinky road smells go as fast as they come in the car. I REALLY WANT A CONVERTIBLE!

Back at Kalamazoo

08 September 2007 at 8:03 PM

Nohemi and I are back. We had a fun ride from O'Hare to Kalamazoo in a convertible PT Cruiser. I got a Mitsubishi Spyder first but our luggage won't fit so I changed it to a convertible PT Cruiser which was the only big convertible car that they had. Even a junky PT Cruiser is fun when you hack off the top.

Beach Squared

04 September 2007 at 10:10 AM

We went to Ses Covetes yesterday and to S'Arenal today. Yesterday was a lot longer stay at the beach and today was a couple of hours. I am glad that we were able to go more to the beach. Ses Covetes is right next to Es Trenc and I've never been to Ses Covetes so instead of the nude beach we went to the regular beach.

We had dinner with Angel last night at an Indian restaurant at San Agustin.

Es Trenc

Abuelo's back hurts so we are canceling the Auto Safari trip and instead we are heading to Es Trenc for the day.

Day Nineteen

02 September 2007 at 10:32 AM

Anahi's baptism and party afterwards. There were a couple of gypsy kids there being baptized also. The gypsies have a style of their own which is rather entertaining. They wear lots of gold and are loud. I noticed that this clan had funky patterns in their hair like a puma etc.

Day Eighteen

01 September 2007 at 4:31 PM

Went to church today to see the priest about Anahi's baptism tomorrow. Surprisingly, I did not need any help understanding the priest. He spoke in Spanish and I understood what he said.

El Perro Loco is open and I had 2.5 perro rabiosos. I've waited some 9 months to eat there again and couldn't have been any sooner because they were closed for the entire month of August.

Apparently, there are a bunch of celebrities in an exclusive disco/bar at Puerto Portals partying. Paris Hilton, and others are there for a 2 or 3 day party.
