2008

31 December 2007 at 11:41 PM

I was planning on going to the New Years Eve party at Dinos' place but the weather said otherwise. Snow accumulation tonight is between 3 to 5 inches in Kalamazoo then another 2-4 tomorrow. I just don't want to chance it and get stranded. Didn't want to be sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck as the new year arrived. Instead, I spent it at home watching the New Years Eve concert at the local PBS station. They're playing Bolero right now. An observation... there a lot of Asian violinists on this New Years Eve orchestra thing.

Worked out with Travis this evening. That's been going on strong. So a working out New Years resolution isn't something that I am making. I don't have anything in mind for a New Years resolution but I am sure something will come to mind.

New York Philharmonic is what's on TV. Playing at the Lincoln Center.

Nothing else... this is it for 2007. Another year that came and went in a flash. The new year arrives in 7 minutes. Happy New Year World!!!

From Spain

Nohemi sent me a couple of pictures of her and Anahi, my goddaughter, that she took with her phone.

The Break So Far

28 December 2007 at 3:57 PM

I went to Saginaw on the 24th and left on the 26th. Started fires at John's fireplace, which hasn't been used since I used it last two years ago. I, so, want a fireplace, it's so cozy and yummy to be around when it's freezing cold outside. There's a certain quality to the heat that isn't as artificial feeling as from an HVAC type thing. It isn't as dry, I think, is the best way to describe it.

When I drove back to Kalamazoo, I used the route that the nuvi recommended instead of the regular route that I take. It was a bit faster because there wasn't as much traffic as going through M52. Must be old age, I find myself enjoying the country roads routes more instead of the speed and monotone of the freeways.

I was planning on going to IKEA today so I can check out their desks. I am thinking of getting a couple of desks for Nohemi and me so I can make a home office type layout of the both of us. I want to put two desks that are facing each other to be conducive to conversations. But the snow storm that is passing through ruined that plan. Now I am at home just trying to keep warm and relaxing.

Traffic Jam Mystery Solved by Mathematicians

20 December 2007 at 4:26 PM

I've always complained about people unnecessarily tapping on brakes in the highway. I've always just released the throttle before braking in the highway. A majority of the time, there is absolutely no need to brake. So apparently, stupid brake stompers are the true cause of traffic jams. BUT since it's only a mathematical model and not written in the bible then it must not be true.

Dealer $h1t

I went to an Indian restaurant last night for dinner. Everything was in order when I went to bed. I am paying for it today though.

Home Alone

19 December 2007 at 1:02 PM

Nohemi is in Spain for the holiday. I am spending the holiday home alone. No need to join the herd of shoppers (relief!). Just some R&R during shutdown week. It'll be nice to disconnect from work for a week. Do some shopping, against the flow of traffic, after Christmas. I have gone through this experience in the past, I must say it is such a relief not to have a deadline.

I don't know what to do for New Years.

Darwin's 2 Girls and 1 Cup

09 December 2007 at 1:59 PM

Nohemi and I bumped into Darwin and Jeannie at Target last night. They mentioned 2 Girls and 1 Cup and people's reactions. My reaction to the whole thing is pretty boring because I have seen stuff like it before. It's not my cup of tea but I am sure others like it. Be sure to video tape your first time watching of the video. Enjoy.

Operator for a Day

07 December 2007 at 10:24 PM

I worked at the plant floor today. I had been dreading it since its inception because I had sucked at it in the past. However, after going through it today, I must admit that processes in the floor have improved A LOT since I starting working at MANN+HUMMEL 10 years ago. The use of sensors and cameras have made the making of parts almost idiot proof. I only helped with packing out the finished goods and refilling supplies so the damage that I can do was minimal. I tried making parts when some of the operators went on break and I think I did pretty well. I know it's not something that I will trade my job for but having to run around and helping in the floor was actually fun. I hope I wasn't too much of a nuisance to the operators but I enjoyed working with them today.

About Me

03 December 2007 at 9:10 AM

Here's a little something to enlighten people why I am who I am. I am an eldest child so I have constantly been made to watch over my siblings. Something that is a part of who I am now. Not a complaint but a mere fact. So whenever I get a dilemma or issue presented to me, I always try to resolve or fix the situation. But this isn't true for the rest of the world. Here is an example that is euphemized for the general public.

Scenario: A person is about to step on shit.
My reaction: No! Don't step on the shit. It's full of bacteria and germs. And is super gross. Yuck! Yuck! No!
Others reaction: {eggs person on to step on shit} You know, in some cultures, it's good luck when you step on shit.
Another reaction: {let the person step on shit} Wow! Brown looks good on you.

It's my reaction to things, per nurture and my nature, to protect. Although, I've learned that people like hearing brown looks good on you as they wallow in feces. As ridiculous as the notion sounds, I have to accept that people are different. People like brown on them. I just have to learn to laugh inside.

A Nice Weekend

02 December 2007 at 11:27 PM

I've enjoyed this weekend. It was relaxed. Went to Michigan City for some shopping this Saturday with Nohemi and Travis. Played with my Nintendo DS Lite that Nohemi got me for my birthday. I have Brain Age and New Super Mario Bros. Today, I tried charging the now certified dead battery on the Audi. I really miss my Miata for the whole 2 weeks that I've known it. It has been sitting in my parents' garage for a week. It will probably sit there for a while longer since the weather is crap. Went to Checkers for lunch and had been dizzy ever since. Went to Target this evening. Watched Full Of It after which was a funny movie. Now, I can commence with the Sunday night depression.
