En dia 29...

.... España campeon! Spain is the European champion! They're the ones that scored the most goals, scored on the least, and David Villa is the leading goal scorer of the tournament. They played the best looking soccer. The best team won today.

Both teams show class in victory and defeat. Sergio Ramos is wearing an Antonio Puerta shirt.

Italy? Argentina?

The Germans are puling the old tricks of the Italians and the Argentinians.

Klose

OUCH!!!

Update: This is the only video on YouTube that I could find:

First Blood

The Germans drew first blood. Too bad it was just Ballack smashing his head against Senna's and cutting himself. Halftime, Germany 0-1 Spain. Spain should have a couple of more goals in. But as the Spanish say, people that are born lucky are born with a flower in their ass. The Germans are born with bouquets sticking out of their butts.

Go smurfs go!

Iniesta Shoot!

Iniesta needs to shoot.

Slew of Errors

Now the referee showed a yellow to Casillas?

Ballack is Dirty!

Goal from Torres!!!!! Gol del niño!!

The Germans are dirty... they push down the little smurfs. Their fans throw bags at Xavi on corner kicks.

3 fouls from Ballackk against Cesc that should be a yellow card!

Butterflies

The game is going to start in about an hour. Nohemi is listening to the Spanish radio on the internet.

Nohemi just heard on the radio that last night the Spanish fans and German fans were having a chanting/singing competition. A bunch of German fans wanted to start a fight but other German fans stopped them.

Tired

28 June 2008 at 11:34 AM

I never realized how exhausting wiring a phone closet could get. I spent the entire afternoon yesterday wiring a phone closet. Having to have your arms elevated and at a constant stoop isn't something that I am used to. I guess, non-activity will be my activity for the weekend. Watching the game tomorrow Spain v Germany will be the highlight. Go smurfs go!

Soccer Quote

26 June 2008 at 5:23 PM

"Soccer is a game for 22 people that run around, play the ball, and one referee who makes a slew of mistakes, and in the end Germany always wins."

Spain in the Euro Cup Finals!!!

Positive Post#2: I have no complaints about the referee, good referee from Belgium.

Goal from Xavi, Guiza, & Silva. Russia played their attack minded game and so did Spain. I am not sure about the stats but Spain looked to have attacked more than Russia, specially in the second half.

UEFA bought a generator in case the thunderstorm messed up the power again. The company that had the broadcast rights in Germany is planning to sue UEFA for yesterday. They'll have to subpoena Thor for screwing up the game coverage.

Seriously

25 June 2008 at 10:18 PM

I drove to the sales office in Bloomfield Hills today. On my way there, a guy driving a UHaul type truck was so much into my lane that he folded my right side mirror with his. Also, I noticed that more and more people just merge without looking over at their blind spot.

Close Call

23 June 2008 at 5:37 PM

Some dude with one of those boat sized cars almost sideswiped me off of Whites Rd/Parkview Ave. He was driving one of those Buicks with the really big C pillar which landed me and the state of Texas in his blindspot. I pressed that freaking horn in absolute desperation! It sounded very much like the little chipmunk that I mutilated with the shovel. I need a louder, meaner horn.

Positive Things

22 June 2008 at 10:36 PM

Sarah Zera has a 100 positive energy post goal on their blog. I was confused, at first, what the "Positive Energy" subject was all about. I think it is an excellent idea, one cannot complain all the time. I am going to copy her.

Positive Post #1: After the Spain v Italy game, fans from Spain and Italy are out in the streets drinking together. No violence just people having a good time.

Blog Predictions?

It was worth a shot posting the Spain Wins post and it happened. I might have been a little off with my 4-1 because it ended up at 4-2. Might as well go all the way and say, Spain wins the Euro Cup 2008!!!

I am amazed how poorly the refereeing has been in these matches. You always hear about judges in gymnastics or ice skating favoring certain countries. Well, I have to say that refereeing in Euro Cup & World Cup competitions seem to be fixed. So far in the competition the referees have not given 4 clear penalties in favor of Spain. I was bitching about the Dutch referee when Spain played against Sweden. Karma was a bitch to the Dutch. Maybe she'll be a bitch to the Germans too.

Go Smurfs Go

The Italian trees have fallen against the little smurfs from Spain. No more voodoo of the quarter finals penalty shoot out.

I just watched the shootout again. Iker went to the correct direction in all of the shots that the Italians made. It is amazing how good he is with waiting at the very last millisecond to see where the ball is heading.

P.S. Fuck the stupid referee Fandel. This was the best attempt of a fix up job by referees. The referee yesterday wanted so badly for the Dutch to pass but luckily the Russians passed. Today, the German referee wanted so bad for Italy to pass but luckily the Spanish passed. Next game is the Turkey slaughter. No Nihat, all the injuries, all the cards, Turkey will have to play with their goalkeepers as strikers.

WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO

San Iker saved us all!!!!!!!!

June 22nd jinx broken!

Spain Wins in Penalty Shootout

4-1 Spain wins! I am Nostradamus.

It Was Fun While It Lasted

This thing is going into the penalty shootout and Italy will win. I am Nostradamus.

Stay At Home

German referees should stay refereeing the Bundesliga. This one doesn't have any business refereeing an international competition. But then again all the UEFA higher ups are Germans... so what can one do?

Garbage Referee

Two clear penalties in favor of Spain wasn't called by the German referee. The King of Spain is there watching the game... be careful ref, he might decree that you be banned from your favorite vacation place!

OMG

21 June 2008 at 5:10 PM

As I pressed Publish Post, for my previous post, within minutes the Russians scored their second goal in 2nd overtime. Then a little after that they scored their 3rd. Holy upset Batman!!

It is set in stone. The Euro Cup 2008 champions are the Germans.

2nd Place

So far it has been the 2nd place team that has passed to the semi-final for Euro 2008. Germany, Turkey, in a few minutes Russia will pull an upset and eliminate Holland. Tomorrow, Italy will beat Spain. And complete the 2nd place team tournaments. Russia is playing beautifully. Holland has played awesome this tournament. Holland v Russia is a nice game to watch.

Dear Referee Fandel,

19 June 2008 at 10:50 PM

I know that it is in your nature as a referee to fuck over Spain in these types of competitions. But think about the big picture... Spain v Germany in the finals or Holland/Italy v Germany. A simple plea to your sensible German side. Then again, you probably only see physical playing in the Bundesliga and wouldn't know what to do to a technical team but eliminate them from a tournament.

P.S.
What was with your English referee buddy during the Spain v Greece game? I don't think all the English referees combined blew the whistle that much during last Premiership season.

I Wonder....

... when the referees will allow the technical teams to have a fighting chance in the Euro Cup. I want to see a beautiful and technical game. If I wanted to see a physical game, I would change the channel to American football or rugby.

Spain's June 22nd Curse

17 June 2008 at 4:40 PM

June 22, 1986 - World Cup 1986 - Quarter Finals - Spain v Belgium - Spain loses in penalties.
June 22, 1996 - Euro Cup 1996 - Quarter Finals - Spain v England - Spain loses in penalties.
June 22, 2002 - World Cup 2002 - Quarter Finals - Spain v South Korea - Spain loses in penalties.
June 22, 2008 - Euro Cup 2008 - Quarter Finals - Spain v Italy - Spain loses in penalties?

Bullfighting

16 June 2008 at 4:51 PM

I have been watching some clips of Jose Tomas on YouTube. Every so often, people comment their disgust for bullfighting. It's cruel, it's barbaric, etc. I have one question for these people, will they take the place of the breeders in keeping the toro bravo from going extinct?

Hail?

15 June 2008 at 4:17 PM

A nice mid 80s day yesterday, thunderstorm today. It just finished raining with hail. I made a comment yesterday about driving the Miata and the Honda. I swapped from Honda to the Miata yesterday, and we get thunderstorms today. Hmm.

An Active Saturday

Yesterday, we had the Spain v Sweden game for Euro. After the game, I walked 9 at Eastern with Travis. After golf, Nohemi and I went for a ride south and ended up with some yummy organic strawberries. After the ride, we had dinner and hung with Lindsay. This morning, I had a hard time getting out of bed. Yesterday, was a beautiful day for all of the activities mentioned. Today, however, seems to be another stormy day... so is Monday and Tuesday.

Toma!

14 June 2008 at 1:55 PM

Spain won with a goal from David Villa on minute 2 of injury time. They deserved to win this match. They played well and should have gotten more goals.

Fucking Dutch Referee!

The ref in the Spain v Sweden game is looking out for his country. He's afraid of calling a fair game. He's helping the Swedes win this game. Fair play my ass!

Bleach: Memory of Nobody

11 June 2008 at 9:59 PM

I just got back from watching a Bleach movie from Kalamazoo 10. FathomEvents.com with participating theaters show animes, etc. Last month they showed Death Note and this month it's Bleach. It's a bit pricey ($10)but worth it because under normal circumstances I would never have the opportunity to watch this on the big screen.

Frustrated

Lazy. Unmotivated. Panicked. Unfocused. Apathetic. Overwhelmed. Underwhelmed. Angry.
