Day 4 of 365

31 January 2009 at 5:56 PM

Nohemi and I are doing some changes in the kitchen. I really like how it is turning out.

Day 3 of 365

30 January 2009 at 5:15 PM

Forget going blind, apparently it can lead to prostate cancer! But only until you're 50 then you'll probably go blind from it. You have to use your favorite translator because the article is in Spanish.

Translation:
Thus, it was noted that 59% of patients with prostate cancer have sex or masturbating over 12 times a month from age 20 to 30 years old, which would gradually decline in the thirties (48%) and reach the forty (28%).

Day 2 of 365

29 January 2009 at 10:10 AM

Why is it that some people think that I am a dumpster for their frustrations?

Day 1 of 365

28 January 2009 at 8:43 PM

I am doing this to show Nohemi that I can also blog on a daily basis.

I am learning a bit on using Google's SketchUp, reinstalling windows vista on the gaming PC, and doing a section of the mcse course.

Molt D'Anys Abuelo

20 January 2009 at 11:25 AM

Abuelo turned 95 today. If the longevity gene from Abuelo and Nanay got passed on to Nohemi and my kids, they'll all grow old to be 150.

Feliz cumple Abuelito!

The Flight Home

12 January 2009 at 9:48 AM

Jan 9, 2009
5:30AM: Alarm clock goes off, jumped out of bed and got ready for our trip back to Kalamazoo.
6:30AM: Taxi picked us up for the airport.
8:10AM: Flight for Madrid took off
9:10AM: Arrived at Barajas in Madrid. The runway was covered in snow!
11:50AM: Flight to Chicago was scheduled to leave.
An announcement was made that the airport is shutdown because of the weather. Flights were diverted back to origin or other airports. The news said 45,000 people were affected by the shutdown. We watched the clock at the gate increment upwards until 6 o'clock when someone mentioned unofficially that the flight has been canceled. The announcement did not come from an Iberia employee. No formal announcements anywhere regarding the cancellation. People in our flight started to flock towards the customer service kiosk near our gate. We were inefficiently notified that we needed to claim our luggage and get new tickets at the customer service above the baggage claim area.
6:00PM: We, along with thousands of other passengers, were waiting for our bags at carousel 6. One carousel to accommodate hundreds of canceled flights. It too until 9 o'clock until we were able to get our luggage.
9:15PM: Stood in line at the customer service kiosk.
11:00PM: Mc Donalds closed. Cops had to show up because people were upset that there isn't a food place nearby to get food from while waiting at the customer service line of several thousand people. At one point, I looked and saw ONE customer service person serving the thousands of people in the queue.

January 10, 2009
1:30PM: We got a hotel room voucher and tickets to fly from Madrid to Paris then to Chicago. That is 16 hours plus of standing in line without sleep.
4:00PM: Arrive at Sol Melia hotel in the center of Madrid. Posh hotel. They fed us and checked us in.
5:30PM: Took a shower and napped. That is 36 hours or no sleep!
7:30PM: Woke up with a massive headache and sore legs. No aspirin anywhere. Nohemi and I went for a walk to look for a pharmacy. Got some 600mg ibuprofeno form the pharmacy. Went to Mc Donalds for food. Starbucks for a cup of white chocolate mocha and a collectible Starbucks city mug.
11:30PM: Went to bed for the night.

January 11, 2009
5:50AM: Wake up call from the front desk.
6:30AM: Left the hotel without the girls in our group because they were slow. We teamed up with our flight to Chicago to have a louder voice at customer service. There was Doug, Ann, Rachel, Loli, Kyle & his wife, Nohemi and me, Samuel. Rachel and Ann are the girls that were left behind.
7:50AM: Checked in on our flight for Paris.
10:20M: Flight for Paris left. The seats smelled terrible. Like a homeless person. It was the head rest cover that has probably never been washed in months. It was white at one point in time but was just this digusting smell and color.
1:15PM: Scheduled departure time for our flight to Chicago. We had about 40-50 minutes to make it to the connecting flight form landing. Luckily, the flight was delayed to 1:45PM. Snaked our way through security. The French say "5 minutes" to everything. How far is the gate from here? 5 minutes walking. How long does it take you to have an orgasm? 5 minutes fucking.
2:30PM: Flight finally took off after the pilot said 5 minutes delay because of luggage. The flight also arrived late from its previous use. Watched movies. Took a motion sickness pill. It was caffeinated. I was shaking and needed some food. I asked the stewardess for some crackers. She looked at me funny, like only the French do, and gave me a tissue. It must mean something in French but I just thought she was a moron and walked to another stewardess. That one gave me crackers and water.
ALSO, this plane smelled just like the plane from Madrid to Paris but the difference is that it was an 8 hour flight. Pressurized for 8 hours of dried up sweat smell. Thanks Air France!
4:45PM (Chicago time): Arrived at Chicago. Went through passport control. Picked up luggage. Rented a car from Alamo. The guys there weren't really willing to put an effort because of the weather. I was told to pick any one I wanted from the back fence. Drove back to Kalamazoo. Took a 30 minute nap at the Michigan-Indiana border. Watched a car spin out of control in front of me and fall off the road. Watch a pick up truck fish tail and recover.
11:00PM Arrived in Kalamazoo.
